Wan-Bissaka’s Potential Replacements
Manchester United have reportedly identified three possible candidates to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Barcelona’s versatile defender Jules Koundé emerging as one of the leading options. Wan-Bissaka’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, and the right-back position could be a key area that Ineos focuses on during the summer transfer window.
While Diogo Dalot has shown considerable improvement in recent months, United will need further competition if Wan-Bissaka is sold. In recent matches, the 26-year-old has been deployed at left-back due to a spate of injuries in the defensive line. His current contract, which was set to expire in 2024, has been extended by an additional year.
Italian reports suggest that Inter Milan are admirers of Wan-Bissaka and may consider a swap deal involving their right-back Denzel Dumfries. Another player frequently linked with United is Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking right wing-back, Jeremie Frimpong. However, a fresh update from journalist Rudy Galetti has placed Jules Koundé on United’s radar as a top target. The 25-year-old, who can also operate at centre-back, has been crucial to Barcelona’s defence this season, helping the side secure 16 clean sheets in all competitions.
Martial Set for Exit – But Where Next?
Anthony Martial’s time at Manchester United looks to be drawing to a close, with the forward expected to depart the club when his contract expires this summer. Although Martial hasn’t featured since December 9 due to a groin injury, United confirmed in January that he had undergone successful surgery, sidelining him for up to 10 weeks. Yet, despite being back in training, Martial has not made a matchday squad, raising questions about whether he has already played his final match for the club.
United still have six Premier League fixtures remaining and could yet reach the FA Cup final if they defeat Coventry City at Wembley this weekend. While Martial could have added valuable depth in these high-pressure matches, his injury record has become a persistent issue. As the season winds down, it appears Martial’s future lies elsewhere.
According to Rudy Galetti, the 28-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in both France and Italy, with Roma and Inter Milan reportedly considering moves for the soon-to-be free agent. A return to Ligue 1 seems the most likely destination for Martial, marking a return to the division he left in 2015 when he joined United from Monaco.
