Onana Nominated for Ballon d’Or
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been shortlisted for both the 2023 Ballon d’Or and the Yachine Trophy, following an impressive year. The Cameroonian shot-stopper was a pivotal figure for Inter Milan last season, helping the club secure the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia titles.
Onana also played a crucial role in Inter’s Champions League campaign, where they reached the final before narrowly losing 1-0 to Manchester City. His outstanding performance in the final was widely recognised as one of the best displays of his career.
After that stellar season, Onana reunited with former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag at Manchester United in a £47.9 million transfer this summer. His nominations see him compete against elite names such as Thibaut Courtois, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Ederson for the Yachine Trophy, which is awarded to the best goalkeeper. For the Ballon d’Or, Onana joins a list that includes global stars like Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Mohamed Salah.
