The international break is over! Once the Tuesday matches are gone, it is time for player to return to their respective clubs and continue the season – before we get interrupted once again in about a month. However, this time there are some bad news for Manchester United fans.
De Gea Injured Against Sweden
The bad news are that David De Gea got injured on Tuesday in Spain’s 1-1 draw against Sweden. After getting just a point against Norway, Spain were not great tonight either. They were losing for the bigger part of the match, but then Rodrigo equalized in the stoppage time to salvage a draw.
But the biggest thing from this match is that David De Gea had to be subbed off due to injury and he is likely to miss the Sunday clash against Liverpool in what could be one of the crucial matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his staff. De Gea had a problem with the hamstring and had to limp off the pitch with the help of physios.
It is still unknown how serious things are, but if he is not ready for Sunday, then Sergio Romero will have to step up and perform.
Lindelöf Played Full 90 Minutes
On the other team in that match, Victor Lindelöf had played the full 90 minutes and he will be disappointed too. He did not get injured, but his team conceded a late goal that would not only have sealed a big win over Spain, but also basically book a trip for the Euro 2020. This way, they have only one point more than Norway in that fight for the second spot that brings qualification to the Euros.
After eight matches, Spain have 20 points in that group, with Sweden in second with 15 and Norway in third with 14. Sweden’s match in Romania next month could decide it all.
Rashford Scores For England
On Monday, we had a big scandal in Bulgaria, where the segments of home fans were making Nazi salutes and racially abuse the visitors, but on the pitch, England got closer to qualifying. After a 2-1 defeat in Czech Republic, they needed a comfortable win to get back on track and that is exactly what they did.
England won 6-0 in Bulgaria with Marcus Rashford opening the scoring for the visitors. Bulgaria are obviously a poor side with one of their worst generations, but it was still great seeing England scoring goals for fun.
While You Are Here
The stories about Manchester United getting closer to signing Mario Mandzukic are heating up nicely. One of the latest rumours is that the Devils will get the Croatian veteran in the January transfer window, as he did not play a single minute of competitive club football since May.
The Guardian are even suggesting that he might join in January for a nine million pound transfer fee and 85.000 pounds per week. It is still, obviously, far from a done deal, but more and more media outlets are suggesting that Mandzukic will strengthen United’s attack early into the 2020.
