Manchester United failed to win in last three matches in all competitions. They lost to Bristol City in the League Cup, before two draws arrived, against Leicester City and Burnley. Some of the players did not play as well as they can and some Manchester United fans were mentioning Marcus Rashford in that context as well.

The young Englishman endured a blip in form recently and he was not the only player. Romelu Lukaku’s poor form is not a dip anymore since it lasts for several months now. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is not even a shadow of a player he made himself look like during August. And now Rashford’s name comes to the fore. But should it?

Manchester United Fans Should Not Be Worried

First and foremost, going on a poor run of matches is normal for a player of his age. Rashford just turned 20 two months ago. For the past couple of weeks or so, he did look a bit off pace. He could not make an impact on matches as well as he used to. Against Bournemouth and Leicester, Man United academy product played a total of 43 minutes, as Jose Mourinho made sure squad rotation was put in place.

Rashford’s last goal came against Manchester City, as he equalized for United after Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph made mistakes prior to him scoring. However, attacking minded players at young age are expected to have some issues.

Rashford Had A Good Start Of The Season

Dele Alli experienced a first longer dip in form this autumn, as well. That is nothing out of the ordinary. Younger players tend to find it hard to be consistent throughout the season. Yet, what is more important is putting things into perspective.

Rashford had a hand in 14 Manchester United goals in all competitions this season. It is a very good feat for him so far. Last season his tally in Premier League and Europa League was at 10. And we are barely through the first half of the season. There is nothing for Manchester United fans to be worried about.

He is still far from being the finished product and who knows how far Rashford could go in his career. Few bumps in the road are expected, if not welcome.

Big Things Ahead Of Him In 2018

Marcus finished in third place in the Golden Boy award for 2017. In front of him were only Kylian Mbappe (PSG) and Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona). That is a good company to have.

The 2018 will be a year for him to prove how much he has improved. Manchester United will play in Champions League round of 16. That will also be Rashford’s first taste of highest echelons of European football. Euro 2016 was all well and good, but the latter stages of the Champions League are the true top.

And Manchester United might just go very far. With Sevilla being their opponent, United are expected to go through and from then on everything is possible. Marcus Rashford loves a big stage. On that one he might shine brightly.
