Mixed reaction to City takeover

Carlos Tevez has admitted that he is concerned about the takeover of Manchester City and has admitted that City could be considered a title rival to United.
However, chief executive David Gill and vice captain Ryan Giggs disagree with the Argentinian forward. Both Gill and Giggs believe that Manchester United remain the top club in Manchester and for that matter the world. Giggs added "United have a status and history that it has taken years to build up. It stretches back to the Busby babes, to players like Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best. It will be very interesting to see what happens at City, but what we have at United is very special.". Giggs also chose the Berbatov route be deciding not to sign for Manchester City and sign for United instead.
September 1st 2008 marked one of the most crazy days in the Premier League with the Abu Dhabi United group buying Manchester City. What followed was quite unbelievable, with City trying to hijack United's Berbatov bid and transfer bids made for David Villa and Mario Gomez. All three deals failed to materialize with Berbatov citing that there was only 'one club he wanted to join'.
City ended up stealing Robinho from under the nose of Chelsea, although the record signing made a gaff this morning. The Brazilian was quoted as saying 'A deal came in and I decided to sign for Chelsea'. When the reported reminded him he had actually signed for Manchester City, he quickly remarked 'Manchester I mean Manchester'.
