Gaffer praises Rooney on Blackburn performance
Sir Alex Ferguson praised Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United number 10 scored a superb second goal and put in a man of the match performance against Blackburn Rovers.
Rooney, who has scored in his last three games, was in sensational form operating in a wide right formation alongside Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo. Rooney's movement and passing were on show as United put in a masterclass which prompted Blackburn manager Paul Ince to describe the United performance as "absolutely awesome".
Fergie was quoted as saying "That was his (Wayne Rooney) best performance of the season for us Blackburn had to gamble and we capitalised."
Rooney is currently on three goals - which have all come in the last three games. Rooney is hoping to continue that form with England over the next week and a half - whereas United fans hope he scores his fourth in four games against WBA Saturday week.
