United linked with move for Diarra

Manchester United could well be set for a £12Million January bid for Portsmouth's industrious midfield - Lassana Diarra.
Diarra came to England in 2005 and signed for Chelsea from Le Harve. The Frenchman found himself with limited playing time as an understudy for Makelele. Diarra fell down the pecking order even further once Chelsea signed Mikel from United for £12million.
Diarra moved to Arsenal for £5million on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2007 in a part exchange with Ashley Cole, but again the youngster found his playing time limited with Wenger preferring his fellow countryman Flamini. Diarra, who is known as being a little impatient, decided to move to the south coast in the January transfer window and has proved to be an instant hit.
The Daily Mail have stated that United will bid £12million for a player seen as alternative to Owen Hargreaves, who has had a number of injury concerns. Hargreaves is currently in the USA undergoing treatment for a knee injury.
