Ronaldo contract talks hit snag

Sir Alex Ferguson has dissmissed reports that Cristiano Ronaldo will be awarded a new contract for staying at United following Real Madrid's shameful conduct over the summer in trying to obtain his signature.
Fergie, who celebrated 50 years in charge of United on Saturday, was quoted as saying "I don’t know what other clubs pay their players, but he (Ronaldo) is very well paid by us and quite rightly. He deserves to be paid tremendous amounts. All the players that are well paid deserve it because they are great players. At the moment, he has three-and-a-half years left on his contract and we are happy with that."
Reports had suggested that Ronaldo was aiming for £150,000 per week deal to extend his contract further and restrict any potential problems with the player buying out his contract, a process known as the Webster ruling. This would mean that Ronaldo could leave United for as little as £12Million.
