Cantona: Ron's going nowhere

Eric Cantona

ERIC Cantona is convinced Cristiano Ronaldo will spurn the chance to join Real Madrid and stay at United.

The Reds legend believes the double footballer of the year will end all speculation about his future and remain at Old Trafford.

"He is an artist,” said Cantona. “He is creative. He is exciting. He will stay at Manchester.”

Real are ready to spend as much £70m for Ronaldo, but United insist he is not for sale at any price.

The Premier League and European champions have made an official complaint to FIFA about Real’s actions in the transfer saga of the summer, but it appears to have done nothing to deter the Spanish giants.

Now former United defender Gabriel Heinze has advised his former United teammate to join him at the Bernabeu.

"I talk to with Cristiano all the time and tell him how great this club is," said Heinze. "I would love to play alongside him again.

"I don't think he would have any problem adapting to any team in the world. I don't think Cristiano will get any better as a footballer, he is already next to God in his ability.

"He's a kid who is already spoken highly about all the time in Madrid. If I had to pay for one player I would choose Cristiano. In Madrid we would welcome him with open arms."
