World Cup heroes blast Manchester United star

Ronaldo

Current Footballer of the year and potential all time Old Trafford villain Cristiano Ronaldo has been slammed by two World Cup winners, one winning the trophy three times.

Pele, who is regarding along with Maradona as one of the greatest footballers of all time, and the only English goalkeeper to win the World Cup, Gordon Banks, have both weighed in on the transfer saga that will not go away.

Pele has stated that he believes Ronaldo should 'forget about Madrid' and concentrate on his Manchester United career. Cristiano Ronaldo signed a five year deal last April at Old Trafford and has come under severe criticism for his part in the transfer deal of the summer - failing a number of times to show public affection towards Manchester United and the fans that sung his name last season. Pele added: "If you have a contract then in any job you have to finish the contract."

Gordon Banks, the man who played against Pele in a 1970 World Cup game, believes that Ronaldo has shown a distinct lack of respect towards his current boss, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Banks said he could not comprehend why the 42 goal player would want to move away to Real Madrid. Banks was quoted as saying "I can't understand why he said he felt he was being treated like a slave. If he has just signed a new contract then he should respect his manager and honour it. It's stupid. I don't understand what the problem is. He plays for a team that has just won the European Cup and the Premier League. He plays for his country. What more does he want?"

Pele also criticism current FIFA boss Sepp Blatter for his comparison of modern day footballers to "slaves". Pele responded to the "slave" comments with "You are a slave if you work without a contract or you don't get paid."
