Rooney targets goals

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney is aiming to become Manchester United's top scorer next season and emulate his Portuguese team mate, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Wayne Rooney, although injured for a number of games, scored 18 goals last season - a return that many fans felt could have been even greater.

The importance of Rooney is never in question, however if for improved finishing, the United number 10 could have notched up at least ten more goals.

Rooney's intelligence of dropping deep and creating space for Ronaldo to march into has not gone unnoticed. The ability of the young forward though should bring more goals to the fold.

Rooney had nothing but praise to say about his under fire team mate Ronaldo. He said: "Cristiano is unbelievable,". "What he's done for United in the last two years is brilliant. Playing alongside him makes you work hard. You always want to be the best and I think I can score a few more goals."

Rooney reiterated the fact that United fans still haven't seen the best of him and promised more goals for the next season.
