Compensation agreed for Queiroz

Queiroz

Carlos Queiroz has left Manchester United to become the new national coach of Portugal.

Queiroz, who had been linked with the post as favourite since predecessor Scolari signed as Chelsea manager, has signed a four year deal, and in doing so signalled the end of his second Old Trafford stint.

Sir Alex Ferguson could see this as a body blow as it could throw a spanner in the works of convincing Cristiano Ronaldo to stay - this is the second time Queiroz has jumped ship at a job opportunity, ironically the first time was to join Real Madrid in 2003.

United are believed to have agreed a compensation deal in the region of £1.5m for their former assistant manager.
