United turned down bid for Evans

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the club turned down a bid from Sunderland for the young defender.
Evans made an impression at the Stadium of Light on loan from United in 2007 and 2008. Evans has since established himself in the first team setup after Ferguson offloaded Silvestre to Arsenal and Pique to Barcelona in the summer. Evans has made some very impressive performances this season in the place of either Ferdinand or Vidic.
Fergie was quoted as saying "Jonny had four years left on his contract and we told him he was not leaving. I wanted him to think three or four years ahead and decide where he wanted to play, in the Manchester United first team or the Sunderland first team. It was an issue. I told him he would be a Manchester United first-team player within that period because his potential was so good."
