Anderson on the road to recovery

Brazilian midfielder Anderson is on the road to recovery after injuring his ankle against Derby in the 4-2 victory in the Carling Cup semi final, however a first team start has still not be confirmed.

Anderson, a £18 Million signing from FC Porto in May 2007, has found his appearances limited over the past season due to the superb performances of Giggs, Carrick and Fletcher.

United have revealed that the x-rays show that he did suffer ligament damage that has prevented him from training. Assistant manager Mike Phelan recently comment on the young midfielders return to fitness: "Anderson is coming along slowly. He is working with the medical team at the moment and will start on the conditioning side next week. He is making the progress that we expect him to make. It is just a question of how quickly that comes on once he gets out onto the training pitch. We haven't put a timescale on it because he is working more inside than out. Once we get him onto the grass we will find out how long."
