United legend wins award

Sir Bobby Charlton has been given the BBC Sports Personality's Lifetime Achievement award on Sunday night.

Sir Bobby played a significant part in Manchester United's successes in the 1960's and was the first Englishman to lift the European Cup for an English side. Sir Bobby also won the 1966 World Cup with England and is still today the leading goalscorer.

Charlton is now 71 and is an ambassador for Manchester United. His famous decline of a Champions League medal, following Peter Keyon's smiling and acceptance of a loser's medal, showed just what a modest character he is and a superb man.
