United draw Gamba Osaka

World Club Championship

Manchester United will play their semi final match of the World Club Championship against Asian Champions Gamba Osaka.

The Japanese club were originally founded in 1980, however have only used the name 'Gamba Osaka' since 1991. Only last month did the Japanese Champions beat Australian outfit, Adelaide United, 5-0 over the course of two legs. Gamba Osaka then beat the same side 1-0 on Sunday evening to book their place in the semi finals against the European Champions - Manchester United.

Manchester United last played in the World Club Championship back in 2000 when the tournament was hosted in Brazil. United drew 1-1 with Mexican side Necaxa, lost 3-1 to Vasco da Gama and beat Australians South Melbourne 2-0 - with two goals from Quinton Fortune.
