Fergie not a fan of Blatter Quota

Sir Alex

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that he is 'no a fan' of head of Fifa, Sepp Blatter's, plan introduce a quota into the European game.

The starting xi in the Champions League final for Fergie's men would have surpassed the quota, however Ferguson stated that "he chose these players not because of their nationality, but because they are good enough to win the European Cup."

Fergie went on to add "There has been some criticism in the media of the Premier League this year, with a call for quotas to guarantee English players starting places in teams. It is vital that the game takes a step back and concentrates on making the right choices We have the strongest and the most entertaining league in the world; we should celebrate that, not denigrate it. Last season proved once again that, as well as being the hardest league in the world to win, it's also the best."

The Manchester United manager also stated that he believes England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008 was blown out of proportion and that Fabio Capello, the national team manager, has enough good quality players to do his job.
