Player Profile on Nemanja Vidic

Vidic

Nemanja Vidic joined Manchester United for £7m signing in January 2006 from Spartak Moscow. Sir Alex Ferguson claiming that United “couldn’t afford to miss out” on the Serbian centre-half, who they had been following since his early days with Red Star Belgrade.

Vidic hadn't played for 2 months and a combination of problems such as match fitness, injuries, adjusting to the English game and culture meant United didn't see the best of him last season.

This season he has been desribed by one pundit as a monster another a man mountain, United may have found the new Stam ... or better?

In his words:
"When I was a child there were some fabulous players but really I don't try to imitate or copy anyone and I don't have any role models. I am trying to be myself, make my own style and produce my own image."
