Rio Ferdinand has been one of the best defenders in Europe over the past three years – a far cry from the criticism aimed at him for failing to turn upto a drugs test and his reluctancy to sign a new contract back in 2005. However, Ferdinand has taken a swipe of Manchester City’s pursuit of Chelsea captain John Terry – questioning why the man who slipped and missed the crucial penalty in Moscow last season – would want to join a team that aren’t going to win any trophies? United and Arsenal have had some fantastic contests throughout the years – with United putting in an exhilarating performance against Arsenal in the 3-1 victory in May. However, Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Arsenal have got the ‘biggest test’ in 2009/10 due to the fact that the club is apparently ‘strapped for cash’. Fergie’s comments come after striker Emmanuel Adebayor left the club for Manchester City this week. |

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech may well have moved to United prior to his transfer to Chelsea from French club Rennes. The Chelsea goalkeeper was bought, along with former United target Arjen Robben, by Claudio Ranieri before Roman Abramovich came to power at Stamford Bridge. Fergie spoke on how close United were ingetting the Czech Republic International. |

It’s summer, the summer football international tournaments finished a couple of weeks ago, but transfer blogs can get tedious as they speculate between the unknown and the ridiculous, and those reasons have inspired me to write a blog about a subject that has probably been dead in the water for around 5 months (well it was that or the fixture list!). |
Fergie: Ronaldo could one day return |

Just as United fans were getting used to life without Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that the winger could one day return to Old Trafford and wear the red of United once again. Ronaldo left United at the start of the month for a world record transfer fee of £80Million and played against Shamrock Rovers for the first time last night in the colours of Real Madrid – however the United manager believes that this might not be the last we see of Ronaldo at Old Trafford. |

Former Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez has signed for Manchester City on a five year deal. Tevez was left frustrated at playing second fiddle to Dimitar Berbatov and publicly criticised Sir Alex Ferguson for leaving him out of the starting lineup for the Champions League final – in which United lost 2-0 to Barcelona. Tevez scored his last goal for United against Wigan Athletic – which helped United closer to the title in May. He had scored the weekend previously – ironically against City – in which he proceed to cup his ears as he celebrated towards the Old Trafford management. Tevez will wear the number 32 shirt as he did at West Ham United and Manchester United. |

Sunderland have completed the signing of Manchester United forward Fraizer Campbell for a fee believed to be in the range of £3.5Million – with the potential fee rising to £6Million dependent on the players success in the North East. Campbell spent a season long loan at Tottenham Hotspur where he scored three goals for the North London club. Campbell played in the 1-1 draw on the opening day of last season against Newcastle United for United due to a lack of striking options. |

Manchester United have signed Michael Owen on a free transfer after the strikers contract with Newcastle United expired on Wednesday. The move comes as a shock to most Reds considering the club had been linked with Karim Benzema – who signed for Real Madrid on Wednesday – whilst also being linked to Atletico Madrid front man Sergio Aguero. Owen found the net 26 times for Newcastle United in 71 games since 2005 – but was blighted by numerous injuries. |
