The October international break has arrived, with 18 Manchester United players called up to represent their countries across the globe. As always, the club’s main priority will be to see each player return to Carrington in good health, free from injury and ready to continue the domestic campaign.
Several senior players, along with a few promising youngsters, are set for action in World Cup qualifiers and friendlies over the coming days. Here is a closer look at all the Reds involved and the fixtures awaiting them.
African Representatives
Cameroon will have both Bryan Mbeumo and Andre Onana available as they prepare for a World Cup qualifier against Mauritius before facing Angola next Monday. In Morocco’s camp, Noussair Mazraoui, who has recently returned from injury, has been included in the squad for matches against Bahrain and DR Congo. Amad Diallo will join up with Ivory Coast for qualifiers against Seychelles and Kenya, hoping to continue his positive form.
European Call-Ups
United’s European contingent is spread widely across the continent this week. Danish duo Patrick Dorgu and Rasmus Højlund could both feature for Denmark in fixtures against Belarus and Greece. In Portugal’s camp, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes will take on the Republic of Ireland and Hungary, with Fernandes expected to continue his influential role in midfield.
Elsewhere, Senne Lammens could be handed his first senior cap for Belgium when they face North Macedonia and Wales, while Altay Bayindir will be looking to add to his international experience as Turkey meet Bulgaria and Georgia. Young defender Leny Yoro will continue his development with France’s under-21 side in games against the Faroe Islands and Estonia.
South American and Other Selections
Two of United’s Brazilian representatives, Casemiro and Matheus Cunha, have both been selected for friendly matches against South Korea and Japan. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte is set to feature for Uruguay as they take on the Dominican Republic and Universidad Católica.
Further south, United academy prospect Diego León has earned his first senior call-up for Paraguay and could make his international debut against either Japan or South Korea.
Other International Involvements
Elsewhere, Gibraltar’s James Scanlon, one of United’s academy hopefuls, may feature in a friendly encounter with either New Caledonia or Croatia. In England’s camp, Marcus Rashford is expected to play a key role following his strong performances at Barcelona, with fixtures scheduled against Wales and Latvia.
With players scattered across continents and competitions, United will be hoping for a productive yet injury-free break before domestic football resumes later this month.
