Manchester United Set to Extend More Contracts

Manchester United are preparing to offer contract extensions to three players in the near future. Erik ten Hag continues to shape his squad, but recruitment challenges have persisted since his arrival in the summer of 2022. Significant improvements in this area are unlikely until ownership issues are resolved. The Manchester Evening News reports that the players in line for contract extensions include Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Hannibal Mejbri. With six players facing contract expiry next summer, the club is considering one-year extensions for these individuals. The extension for Anthony Martial remains uncertain. Should Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed buy-in succeed, he will likely be involved in the decision-making process regarding these contracts. Extending Mejbri’s deal appears logical given his potential as a promising young talent. However, for Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka, the decision may hinge on their future resale value.

Casemiro to Miss Sheffield United Clash

Casemiro has been ruled out of Manchester United’s upcoming match against Sheffield United due to an injury. The Reds face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening, but Erik ten Hag will need to manage without the Brazilian midfielder, who sustained a minor injury during international duty with Brazil. The 31-year-old will remain in Brazil for recovery and is expected to return to Carrington next week, as confirmed by the club. According to ManUtd.com, “Casemiro was absent from training, having remained in Brazil on the club’s advice to recover swiftly from a small issue picked up while representing his country. He will be unavailable for Saturday’s game but is anticipated to resume training early next week. However, he will miss the UEFA Champions League match against FC Copenhagen due to suspension following his red card in the defeat to Galatasaray.” Despite Casemiro’s struggles this season, including being substituted at half-time in the recent match against Brentford, his absence is a setback. United’s midfield will need to adapt in his absence, with hopes that Sofyan Amrabat will be fit to help cover the defensive gaps.

Manchester United Consider Swap Deal for Maguire

Manchester United are reportedly exploring a potential swap deal that could see Harry Maguire move to a new club during the winter transfer window. While there were expectations that Maguire might leave in the summer, links with West Ham faded quickly. Consequently, Maguire remained at Old Trafford and is now working to earn a place in Erik ten Hag’s plans, especially given the current defensive injury crisis. Maguire featured in the 2-1 victory over Brentford just before the international break, where he assisted in securing a stoppage-time win. There is a possibility he could start in the upcoming match against Sheffield United. According to talkSPORT, AC Milan are interested in acquiring Maguire and could make an offer in January. This has led to speculation that United might propose a swap deal involving Milan’s Fikayo Tomori. It is anticipated that Tomori, being a more expensive option, would require Milan to include a financial component in addition to the player exchange.
