Man United News: Van der Sar Talks, Rakitic Links And McTominay In Action

Edwin Van Der Sar Interested In Returning To Manchester United

Could Edwin van der Saar actually return to Manchester United? He spoke recently for Sports Illustrated and once again, he was asked about this possibility. He said that he would definitely be interested in a position of director of football, but that he would first have to learn more before that happens. He wants to develop himself even further, but he is keeping his doors open.

This felt like a logical answer from Van der Sar. He is doing very well at Ajax so far and ending that right now for Man United does not sound great.

Could Ivan Rakitic Join The Devils?

A very good question for all of Man United fans. Ivan Rakitic is not doing well at Barcelona this season and according to reports in Spain, the club have begun talks with Barcelona over a deal for the Croatia international. The 31-year-old has started just one game this season and has played a total of 186 minutes across six appearances in all competitions.

That is far from enough for Rakitic’s standards and recently he spoke about the fact, in the end, he is not interested in walking around the city and admiring the sea, but that he wants to be on the pitch. This could mean that Barcelona are now open to selling Rakitic in the January transfer window.

According to Sport, Man United have already registered their interest with Barcelona and made an initial bid, but it seems like Barca will demand at least €40m for the midfielder.

Moussa Dembele Talks Return

Manchester United have a lot of problems in attack and it is not a surprise that several strikers are being linked with a move to Old Trafford. One of them is, once again, Moussa Dembele, as he was previously linked with United. Now, the are reports suggesting that he could be the player that Man United could sign in January, as there is a possibility Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will get a chance to strengthen the squad.

But according to the Mail on Sunday, Man United are prepared to hold off on signing him, because they do not want to meet Lyon’s £71m asking price. The report us suggesting the club will not go for new players in January at any cost, but that those signings will depend on if a player becomes available.

Scott McTominay In Scotland Action

And last but not the least. From Man United players that are on international duty, only Scott McTominay played for his national side during weekend. David De Gea watched the match from the bench, as Kepa Arrizabalaga was in goal for Spain during their unexpected 1-1 draw in Norway.

McTominay’s Scotland, however, had a much easier task. They played San Marino at home, beating them 6-0. McTominay did not score any of them, but he did get a yellow card at one point. This win means nothing for Scotland, as they remain fourth in their group, with Belgium and Russia already qualifying for the EURO 2020.
