Manchester United already signed Harry Maguire to bolster their defence this summer. However, the team has not finished their transfer business ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, The Red Devils could be planning a move to acquire one of the most dynamic midfielders in the English Premier League ahead of the 2019-20 transfer season. He goes by the name of Christian Eriksen.
According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the Denmark international to complete the squad but they would need to move fast. Will approximately 48 hours left on the transfer market, The Red Devils must act fast to steal the former Ajax star from Tottenham Hotspur. And that might be tough if we consider there is yet to be contact between both sides for a potential transfer.
Eriksen and Pogba moves wouldn’t be related, it seems…
One would think Eriksen’s arrival would depend on Paul Pogba’s departure. However, sources with knowledge of the situation have indicated that’s not the case. And Tottenham would be open to part ways with the Danish star considering there are not many chances of him extending his current deal with the London outfit. Eriksen only has one year left in his current contract, so the scenario is quite clear for the Spurs. They either sell Eriksen now and get some profit out of him, or they will watch him leave for free next summer.
Real Madrid were reportedly linked with a move for Eriksen, but Los Merengues are not in the race to sign him since Real boss Zinedine Zidane indicating a preference to try to sign Pogba instead. Meanwhile, Eriksen admitted earlier this summer that he “would like to try something new”. However, he also left the door open to sign a new Spurs deal if he does not leave this summer.
Only time will tell if Manchester United can complete the deal for Eriksen. But let’s set the record straight here. Adding the Danish star to the squad could be huge for the Old Trafford outfit. He is a game-changing player who could represent a massive boost for The Red Devils’ title chances ahead of the 2019-20 league campaign.
