Man United News: Dan James Arrives, Rashford Scores, Lingard Denied By VAR

Dan James Having A Medical

According to several media outlets, Daniel James was in Manchester today, having a medical ahead of an long-expected move from Swansea City to Old Trafford. The Welsh youngster apparently left the national team camp before their European qualifying matches, which will see them face Croatia, and went to Man United to finish things before he is announced next week as the first signing in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era.

It was reported that Man United would be paying 15 million pounds right away and potential bonuses varying from three to seven million, depending on how he fares. That is a good job for Swansea, having in mind James was entering his final year of the contract. However, it was also reported that AS Monaco made a late bid, wanting to try and snap him up, which made Swansea bargain a bit more than expected. But now the deal seems to be done and it just the matter of days when James will be promoted into a new Man United player.

England Lose Despite Rashford Goal

England lost their UEFA Nations League semifinal at the Finals tournament in Portugal. The Netherlands won 3-1 after extra-time, following a turnaround after Marcus Rashford’s first-half goal. Man United youngster scored from the spot, after Matthijs de Ligt made a rash penalty. Netherlands managed to regroup and equalize, to take the match into the extra-time, where they scored two goals, one from Quincy Promes and the other an unlucky own-goal by Kyle Walker.

It is also worth noting Jesse Lingard had a goal disallowed following VAR consultation, which would have otherwise seen England take a 2-1 lead. England will now face Switzerland on Sunday in the third-place play-off.

De Ligt Shows Both Faces

Matthijs de Ligt showed both faces in Netherlands’ semifinal win. His mistake in the first half, when he wanted to play a backpass to his goalkeeper, ended up in him being late to make a tackle inside the box. It was a clear penalty from the 19-year-old, but he managed to bounce back in the second half.

Ajax captain scored a goal after a corner kick. Former Man United player Memphis Depay made a good cross to the near post, where De Ligt was the tallest of them all, scoring with ease. He is expected to play in the final against Portugal and after that match, it will be expected to find out is he actually going to sign for Manchester United.

‘Maddison Should Not Join United’

And last, but not the least, there are some people that believe James Maddison should not leave Leicester City for Manchester United amidst the latest transfer rumours. Adrian Durham, TalkSPORT host, said on Thursday it would not be a good decision for him.

“I think he should stay. Brendan Rodgers has joined the club and they’re looking up. There’s some positive things happening and a lot of it is being based on James Maddison. You’re not going to get better. No footballers are getting better at Manchester United, with the possible exception of Marcus Rashford. Leicester don’t need the money. The move wouldn’t be good for him.”

Some people really do not like Manchester United.
