What Did Herrera Say And Could Umtiti Really Join Man United?

The second week of the international break has begun and more Man United players will be in action. France won once again, this time against Iceland, with Pogba playing his part in a 4-0 triumph, but we will be talking about some other things. Most notably, about Ander Herrera.

Herrera’s Frank Responses

Ander Herrera spoke to the Spanish media outlet El Periodico, touching on numerous subjects, such as the Champions League matches against Barcelona, Lionel Messi and other, but the most interesting things were about his situation at Manchester United

“It is logical (to be linked with other clubs) when you have three months of contract (left),” Herrera told El Periodico.

His contract is due to run out on 30 June 2019 and there were stories about Paris Saint-Germain being keen on signing him on a free transfer this summer, giving him 7.7 million pounds per season. But Herrera is unfazed by the rumours.

“I already knew something was going to come out. I take it as normal, I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half (of the season) that remains. The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and if you talk to another club for my departure”, the Spaniard said.

“I do not go crazy with what will happen in four months, so I do not know if my stage is over. I enjoy being at the biggest club in England, the fans love me, they have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them, although I honestly do not know what is going to happen”, Herrera explained.

So, it seems like things could go both ways at this point in time, though the midfielder is obviously enjoying his time in Manchester. It is up to the club to secure a new contract for a very good Herrera, who, with some additions next season, might not be a starter in six months’ time, but a player United will still very much need.

Barcelona To Let Umtiti Go?

After playing 25 La Liga matches in each of the past two seasons, Samuel Umtiti is currently at just nine appearances. That is due to his knee injuries that have not only pushed him out of contention, but also gave a great chance to Clement Lenglet. And while Lenglet might not become Barca’s first choice centre-back, that does not mean they will have a place for Samuel Umtiti next season. The reason? Matthijs De Ligt. Barcelona are very keen on signing the 19-year old Dutchman and in order to do that, they might need to offload a player who could earn them some nice sum of money.

And Umtiti could be the one according to various media. The Frenchman won the World Cup last summer and is still a very good centre-back that could walk into many defenses in European football. Man United could definitely do with him, but it all of this talk still feels just like another empty story. At least for now.
