Five Things Manchester United Should Do Before The End Of January

We are in the second half of January. Manchester United have won every match in New Year and now three matches await before the month ends. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will play against Brighton and Burnley at home in Premier League, while their match away at Arsenal will be sandwiched in between.

So, with a manager bound to stay until this summer and then leave, what are the five things Man United should do before January ends?

Send McTominay On Loan

This seems like an obvious one. There were several reports on Wednesday that Scott McTominay had various offers from English and Scottish club. If he was to leave this month on loan, there would plenty of suitors to choose from. He needs playing time and based on that he would choose where to go.

There are plenty of Man United fans who believe his talent is simply not big enough for him to succeed at this club and that he should be sold. But even if he will not become first-team player, Man United should get the most out of that, similarly to how Liverpool got 19 million pounds for a striker with no Premier League minutes this season.

Give David De Gea New Contract

David De Gea is still expected to sign a new contract at Manchester United. There are reports that the Spanish goalkeeper wants 300 thousand pounds per week and that the club is still thinking about their next move. After his brilliant performance against Tottenham Hotspur, the voices about keeping De Gea being ‘a must’ are even louder now.

Such a great goalkeeper is not easy to find and giving him a new contract is the only logical thing for Man United to do.

Greenwood To Make His Debut

If Scott McTominay is to leave on loan (or even be sold), then Mason Greenwood should be somewhere around the first team. The boy is just 17, but his performances for the youth team have been so good that at least he should be rewarded. Why not giving him a chance to make a substitute appearance, especially if United would have a good result in hand against Brighton or Burnley?

Borussia Dortmund and plenty of other German teams have shown us how youngsters can be nurtured properly.

Find A Solution For Fellaini

Is Marouane Fellaini going to stay or is he going to go? Is that going to happen in the summer or this January? Manchester United need to start planning properly and the reports are that Fellaini could be going for the right price. If that is the case, then United should already be looking at other prospects, as it looks unrealistic for club to sell him in the next two weeks.

Stay Close To Fourth Place

This is the most obvious thing, in the end. But still, Man United have done so well in the past month of Solskjaer’s tenure and these two matches against Brighton and Burnley are must win if Devils want to play in Champions League next season. Also, there is a big change around the team and the club and now no one even thinks about the possibility of Man United losing points against these two sides. That is a great change and the team should capitalize on that.
