Manchester United are slowly preparing for another transfer window. January is right around the corner and before we know it, we will be seeing new arrivals and departures across the Premier League. However, with Manchester United, we are not completely certain what kind of business will be done during the first month of 2018.
The Reds could be looking for ways to improve their team for years to come. Yesterday we wrote about Ryan Sessegnon and how the 17-year old could be a player for the future. Yet, Man United might opt for players which will improve the team instantly. Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic in particular were that kind of transfers last summer.
They improve the team in key areas and going into new transfer market, there could be a few places Manchester United will be looking to improve. Here are the players that could leave their respective clubs this January. They have all been heavily linked with United and it is not illogical to think they could end up in Manchester.
Mesut Ozil
The obvious one. Arsenal playmaker will be a free agent on 1 July, unless he signs a new deal with the Gunners. That is unlikely to happen and Arsenal might be looking to at least earn some money before his contract runs out.
That is the chance for Manchester United. Jose Mourinho previously worked with the German player at Real Madrid and knows him very well. They both like each other and Manchester United could really be pushing for a transfer in a few weeks’ time, especially as Ozil would not be that much expensive.
Danny Rose
This one is a slightly bigger stretch, but is not impossible to happen. Danny Rose talked last summer about possible going towards north and Manchester United were linked with him. Tottenham would probably be against letting him go in January, midway through the season.
However, Spurs are also looking into Sessegnon. If they find a way to get him to move across London, then Rose might be in a better position to leave. Ben Davies has been playing well for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, while Rose struggled coming back in form after an injury. Manchester United need a left back, especially if they are to let Luke Shaw leave. Rose just might be the solution.
Antoine Griezmann
And there is this old story. Manchester United fans might be sick of hearing his name after all this time. Yet, this could happen even though big moves rarely happen in January. What is good for Man United in this situation is that Diego Simeone openly said Griezmann could leave if all sides realize that is for the best of his career.
Atletico Madrid coach gave even more reason to media to create stories between the Frenchman and Man United. Griezmann is a great player and he would definitely give more quality and spark to this team. Just imagine his trickery, speed and work-rate around Lukaku…
Griezmann maybe did not have the best 2017 but he possesses obvious quality. After all, Atletico Madrid got Diego Costa back and will not even be playing in the Champions League this February.
