Anthony Martial has been a transfer target of several clubs this summer. His substitute status at Manchester United made clubs make a move for young French winger, including teams like Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur.
Yet, Manchester United are not very interested in seeing Martial’s back. As a player with great potential, Jose Mourinho would have much use of him during a long season. It will be an exhausting campaign and Martial already showed how much he can help.
Martial Has The Abillity
In his 11-minute long appearance against West Ham United, Martial brought even more zest to Man United’s game. He scored United’s third and assisted for the fourth goal, making it clear he has the needed ability.
Still, Martial has not been part of the starting XI for some time and other clubs want to exploit that. First was Tottenham, trying to get the Frenchman into an exciting team Mauricio Pochettino has built in North London. Opportunity to play alongside Harry Kane, Delle Ali and Christian Eriksen could have been very interesting to Spurs fans, but not Manchester United board.
Inter Milan Calling
Then Inter came into the game. The Italian side is rebuilding the squad this summer, after several years of instability in Milan. The Nerazzuri want to see the Frenchman in their famous jersey, especially as Ivan Perisic is nearing the end of his time at Inter.
Luciano Spaletti is eager to get Martial on any kind of deal, even a season-long loan without an option to buy. Yet, former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder, Emmanuel Petit backed Martial to stay in Manchester in an interview for SFR Sport.
“Manchester United are building a team to play for the title this year,” Petit told SFR Sport. “They will play the Champions League, Martial will have playing time and the competitions will be long until the end of the year.”
Petit is right. It might be a challenge right at this time for Martial to get into starting XI, but it is not mission impossible. He will have more opportunities as the season progresses and the Champions League stage is really tough to ignore.
Leaving Is A Risk Not Worth Taking
Petit makes his point again. “Going to Inter which is under reconstruction, there are a lot of uncertainties at this level there. It’s a risk to take but I think he has the qualities to claim to play more at Manchester United”, World Cup winning midfielder said.
Anthony Martial has now been directly involved in more Premier League goals (27) since 2015/16 than any other United player.

Inter is very odd club to play for these days. They make many illogical decisions, their player turnover is very high and many talented players were not given a proper chance in the starting XI. Among them was Stevan Jovetic, Montenegrin maverick whose abilities were obvious during a loan spell at Sevilla.
But everything aside, why would Martial want to leave Manchester United?
Yes, he had less playing time than expected last season, but in a new, more vibrant Man United side he has his place. His pace and flair are would be useful to any team and Mourinho’s team should be less resembling Louis Van Gaal’s. Less boredom, more goals and more fun.
