Topics covered:
Pre-season
Three summer destinations have quickly become four (and since we recorded, five!), including a game against Barcelona. We discuss the kind of players who will go on the tour, including Kiko Macheda who now may stay with the club next season.
Joao Moutinho and Leighton Baines (and youth signings)
He’s been linked with United – is this just a post-Euro 2012 reaction where a player who had a good tournament is linked with a club who happen to need a central midfielder? Meanwhile, Baines rumours continue to loom – surely that deal will happen but will he dislodge Evra? What’s happened to Evra… is it his attacking or defending that’s a liability (we have a rare disagreement on this!)? Meanwhile, Sean Goss and Reece James join the club – Yussif Adam was said to be joining but that’s now not so clear.
Angelo Henriquez
We’ve been strongly linked to the young Chilean striker at La Universidad who’s just broken into their first team. We have a first option agreement on him and he comes to train with United twice a year. Now 18, it seems likely he’ll join either this summer or in January.
Players have left
Various players have left the club now the window is open: De Laet, James, Norwood, Jacob, Kuszczak etc
Zeki Fryers and Paul Pogba
Fryers is closing on a move to Spurs whilst Pogba to Juventus has been confirmed by United but not yet Juventus now. Anto from Beyond The Pitch joins us to specifically discuss Pogba to Juventus and he explains why Pogba may not actually play for Juventus next season at all.
Euro 2012 and the United players
Young, Welbeck and Rooney all had differing Euro tournaments – one was poor, one was unfit, and one came out of it with praise. Why wasn’t Jones used and what’s the future for England – do they have the right players coming through to change their style? Nani had a good tournament but Evra ended up being dropped whilst Lindegaard and Jones were unused. We name our favourite players from the tournament and discuss Spain’s success.
United formation
The signing of Kagawa surely hints at a change of system for United with the use of a ‘number 10’ becoming more prominent.
News and your questions
The fixtures are out, there are various international tournaments this summer and we answer some of your questions… keep them coming in!
