In case you missed it, the big news yesterday was the confirmation of Danny Welbeck’s season-long loan to Sunderland. Also in the news, David Gill talks about United’s newest signing, United cools their interest in Ozil, and a former Red Devil no longer enjoys the beautiful game. New-boy Bebe will not be loaned – The Daily Telegraph
There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Manchester United’s newest signing Bebe. Admittedly, until yesterday he was a player that I had never even heard of. Today, David Gill has provided us more insight on the young Portuguese attacker. It was unknown if Bebe would play for United this season or stay on loan with his current club, but Gill has confirmed Bebe figures into Sir’ Alex’s first team plans for 2010/11. Gill said that Bebe will still need to learn English and adapt to life at Old Trafford, and will thus not return to Portugal. And while we know Bebe will be with United this season, there is still much confusion surrounding him. The club’s official site referred to him as a striker, while fans of Portuguese football are calling him an attacking midfielder and winger. While his short-term future has been clarified, there is still so much left to learn about our newest signing. Assuming his medical goes well, he should be confirmed as a United player by the end of today. Hopefully then Sir Alex will tell us more about his new acquisition.
Manchester United’s newest signing is quickly becoming one of the sport’s Cinderella stories. Bebe said he lived in an orphanage for five years, but recalled many nights when he slept on the streets. Now all of his efforts on the pitch are about to earn him a happy ending. The 20-year-old will finalize his deal with United today following a medical.
United set to miss out on Mesut Ozil – The Guardian
I made it through yesterday’s Stretty Stories without any news of Ozil, but he couldn’t stay away for long. The rumors are back today and they’re more in line with Stretford-End.com’s exclusive report that United will not sign Ozil. Guardian writer Daniel Taylor spoke with a boardroom member at Old Trafford who said he’d be “surprised” if United signed the German playmaker. Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have also been linked with moves for the World Cup star. Werder Bremen and Ozil are both reportedly undecided over his future, which has complicated any move, but United seem to still have some interest.
And now for a bit about our rivals…
Carlos Tevez: I’m looking forward to leaving Europe – The Daily Mail
It seems our former-striker-turned-traitor is no longer happy in Europe. Tevez said that following the disappointment of the World Cup he is losing the will to continue playing football. Personally I won’t be sad to see him go after he left United to join our noisy neighbors. First, Robinho pleads with the club to let him leave. Then, Tevez says he is unhappy and looks forward to retiring to Argentina in the near future. And now they’re on the verge of signing the cancerous Balotelli? Do City want to have a good atmosphere in their squad or not?
Quote of the Day: “Let’s hope it works out.” – David Gill discussing new-signing Bebe. Hardly reassuring comments from Mr. Gill about our newest signing…

I love Manchester United
Re: the quote of the day. A) How much heed do we really pay David Gill anyway? B) What’s the context of the quote? Was it “I’m not convinced but let’s hope it works out” or “We think we might have a special player, but there’s a long way to go. Let’s hope it works out”? And C) better that than piling pressure on Bebe.
As for City, I gather Bellamy said yesterday that both him and Tevez haven’t been getting much direct contact with Mancini. Bellamy doesn’t surprise me because, based on his departures from previous clubs, he could start a fight with his own reflection. Tevez, however, I increasingly don’t know what to make of.
good thing we wont sign the over-rated ozil, bebe fergie clearly indcated at the press conference will play in midfield and at 7.4m seems a good buy aswell. ayone wo doesnt know, bebe can play attacking midfield, winger or forward, he is a creative strong quick streetwise kid and extremely talented. ozil on the other hand is one dimensional and unable to work in a 2 man midfield aswell as being inconsistant in his form. bebe is clearly the better way to go. bebe, welcome to manchester.
I am so underwhelmed by the bebe signing it’s dribbling out my arse as I type.
Welcome to manchester bebe, I would prefer him with a humble past and natural skill over the highly overrated ozil who only have a few good games in WC and people go liken him to rivaldo.
Ian: overrated? Don´t talk nonsense, I could name dozen of English players that are overrated. Just because Manunited won the last game against Chelsea doesn´t mean they will win everything, it was clearly to see that Chelsea wasn´t in top form (no, I am not a Chelsea fan).
